WRIGLEY BBQ MENU

Born and raised in Rockford, Ill., Wrigley BBQ Owner and Pittmaster Mitch Liebovich has always had a passion for barbecue, having made his first brisket at age three (in an oven, not a smoker). As a child, Liebovich drew inspiration from his mother and grandmother’s family recipes, spending his formative years perfecting various rubs and smoking techniques. Eventually convincing his parents to purchase a smoker for the family lake house, he began full heartedly pursuing his penchant for barbecue during his collegiate years at Syracuse University in New York.

Referring to the original Dinosaur Barb-B-Que in Syracuse as the origin of his unwavering infatuation with the world of brisket and pulled pork, Liebovich could never get enough of the restaurant’s laid-back, biker-themed atmosphere perfected with unparalleled food. His experiences there and around the country would inspire him to put his career as a Creative Director aside to pursue his inherent passion for BBQ, ultimately opening his first restaurant, Smoq Pitt, in the Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA in 2014. After two years of manning the helm in “Steel City,” Liebovich returned to his home in Illinois to take over the smoker at Wrigley BBQ, restoring barbecue’s authenticity in the urban setting of Chicago.

“I love barbecue’s ability to bring people together and make them smile,” said Liebovich. “I’ve realized that when you’re passionate about what you do, it no longer seems like work.”
When he’s not smoking up brisket, pulled pork, and other Wrigley BBQ favorites, Liebovich can be found hitting the golf course and spending time outdoors with his friends and family

Before I drove to them, I called to make sure they were not sold out because it is common for them to be sold out before they close. Learned that mistake the first time we went. Hailey abruptly put me on hold without letting me speak. She put me on hold for over 5 mins so I hung up and called back. She immediately hung up the 2nd time. On the 3rd time, Jordyn picked up and was able to answer my simple question.
Finally able to dine in and try their food. We ordered burnt ends (both pork belly and brisket), bbq egg rolls, and sliced brisket that comes with 2 sides which I had Mac and cheese and cornbread. After waiting for over 30 mins, our waitress Jordyn, apologized because she didn’t realize our food was put in to go boxes. We were starving so we told her to just bring the food over.

Nonetheless, the food wasnt bad. The burnt end pork belly and brisket had a lot of flavor esp the burnt end brisket. The pork belly was sweet and tender. I would get those again. Unfortunately, there were couple of items I wouldn’t order again. Sliced brisket was pretty dry. I definitely had to put some sauce on it. BBQ egg rolls was another item that I didn’t care for. They were over fried. Cornbread was bland and dry. Mac and cheese tasted like it had too much flour? Chalky taste to it. But before I jump the gun of not giving them another chance, I would come back to try their ribs and pulled pork.
Food was good, service was fine, but everything could’ve been handled differently. The restaurant just needs to be managed better.

Best bbq ever! Way better than PABBQ and I’ll die on that hill! You can smell the smoke from near by and it’s delightful! I had the smoked turkey and sliced brisket platter and my partner had the ribs and sliced brisket. Both were orders beyond amazing! Smokey, tender, flavorful! 4 house made sauces to choose from! Trying the jalapeño corn bread is a must too! Get there early tho! Sometimes there can be a wait at dinner. The ONLY spot to get great BBQ in my humble opinion!

The food tasted pretty good. It had a rich smoke flavor. If that’s what you like, you’ll love it. I found myself having to rely on their barbecue sauces too much for the flavor I wanted. The sweet potato fries were the bomb!!!! Overall, decent place, but I doubt I return. Also, the food took a little bit longer than expected, but it’s probably because they just opened a couple of weeks ago so they’re probably still working out the logistics. Give it a try and see if you like it. Middle of the road to me.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. The Mac n Cheese taste alright, I won’t be getting that again. The pulled pork sandwich was good. I love trying all the delicious BBQ sauces. I will return and try a different side.

Three of us had lunch there Friday. One friend had a huge grilled (not fried) hamburger perfectly cooked with terrific but not hot onion petals. The petals were tasty, lightly breaded and not greasy. I had a beef brisket sandwich w street corn and mac and cheese. Both sides were tasty, well prepared large servings but served at room temperature – not even warm. My brisket was an immense serving on a fresh bun and the accompanying sauces were good – good not great. My other friend had rib tips – a gargantuan serving – and mashed sweet potatoes. My brisket was lean and tender but not properly cut – served in hunks rather than slices – and not cut against the grain as noted by another reviewer. The staff is very young and try to be accommodating but there was no management in sight and it appeared as though 17 year olds were running the place. A fairly new restaurant should have a manager who checks tables and “markets”. Staff should have some continuity in wardrobe like jean and tees shirts; servers had Wrigley tee shirts but they could not be seen due to the different jackets and sweaters worn. The opportunity to make a visit an experience is missing. The rest room was clean and minimum changes were made to the inside but the decor works as it did for Tom Sawyers, the former occupant. We are going to return and try the ribs and pulled pork and other sides. I give every business slack today because of staffing issues. Wrigley’s has the potential to be very good but work is needed.
